Nawab Dry Amla is Indian gooseberry, deseeded and dried until its sharp, mouth-puckering sourness concentrates. Amla is among the most celebrated fruits in Ayurveda, and dried pieces keep for months where fresh berries last days.
Simmer the pieces into herbal kadhas and teas, soak and grind them into chutneys and churans, or add a handful to coconut oil warmed on low heat for the traditional amla hair-oil infusion. A soak in warm water overnight softens them for grinding.
