ANNAM BOMBAY RAVA 1KG
Description
Annam Bombay Rava 1KG is semolina milled fine. Bombay rava is the trade name for this grade, and the distinction from upma rava is grain size and nothing else.
Fine rava is what sweets want. Sooji halwa comes out smooth rather than gritty, rava ladoo binds properly, and a rava dosa batter pours thin and laces the pan. Used for upma it gives a soft, almost creamy result, which some households prefer and others consider a mistake.
Bombay rava or upma rava, what is the difference? Grain size. Bombay rava is fine, upma rava is medium. Fine goes creamy and suits halwa, ladoo and dosa batter; medium stays grainy and suits upma. Both are wheat semolina.
Which one for sooji halwa? This one. Fine rava absorbs the ghee and milk evenly and gives a smooth halwa. Made with coarse upma rava the halwa stays gritty however long you cook it.
For a grainier upma, the medium grade upma rava is the grade to use, and more of the aisle holds the besan and rice flour that go into the same sweets. Vegetarian. Keep it sealed and dry, and look through the pack before you use it, because rava draws weevils faster than flour does.
