Maaza and Frooti have been the two sides of the Indian mango drink market for decades, and the difference between them is real if you drink them side by side. Maaza is the sweeter and heavier of the two, made on a base that leans on Alphonso, and it is the one people describe as tasting more like the fruit.

Serve it very cold and without ice, for the same reason as any pulp drink: melting ice thins it out and takes the body away. The 1.2 litre bottle is a party or a weekend size rather than a daily one. It is also the better of the two for cooking with, in a mango mousse or poured over ice cream, because the extra sweetness carries.

Maaza or Frooti, what is the difference? Maaza is sweeter and thicker, Frooti lighter and slightly tangier. Both are mango pulp drinks rather than juices. It is genuinely a matter of which you grew up with.
