THUMSUP 250ML
Description
Thums Up was created in 1977 when Coca-Cola left India, and it held the market so firmly that when Coke returned it bought the brand rather than beat it. It is still the biggest selling cola in India, and it is a genuinely different drink: heavier bodied, with a pepper and spice edge that the international colas do not have.
Serve it hard cold. The higher carbonation is part of the character and it goes flat faster than a milder cola once opened, so a small bottle makes more sense than a large one unless you are pouring for several people. It stands up to chilli-heavy food better than most soft drinks, which is a large part of why it took hold in the first place.
How is it different from other colas? Stronger carbonation, a heavier body and a distinct peppery spice note. People who grew up on it find the international colas thin by comparison.
Why does the web address say 300 ml? The name says 250 ml and the address says 300 ml. That is a site mismatch rather than two products, and we have flagged it for the shop to correct.
For an Indian fizzy drink that is not a cola, try the Sosyo bottle, and the whole fizzy drinks shelf holds the juices. Vegetarian. Keep it somewhere cool, chill it before serving, and finish an opened bottle the same day while the fizz holds.
