SAMAARA TULSI GREEN TEA JASMINE 20 BAGS
Description
Jasmine and green tea is a Chinese pairing, tulsi is an Indian one, and this blend puts them in the same bag. Jasmine is scented into the leaf during processing rather than added as dried flower, which is why a good jasmine tea smells far stronger than it tastes. Tulsi brings a savoury, slightly clove-like note underneath.
Use water off the boil, never at it, because green leaf scorches and turns bitter in fully boiling water. Two minutes is plenty and three is usually too many. Drink it without milk, which would flatten the jasmine entirely. It is the sort of tea that suits the afternoon rather than the first cup of the morning.
Does it taste of tulsi or of jasmine? Jasmine on the nose, tulsi in the finish. If you have only had plain green tea before, the jasmine is what you will notice first.
Can I add milk? Better not to. Milk buries the jasmine and turns the tulsi slightly sour. This is a tea to drink clear, with honey if you want it sweet.
Another tulsi blend on the shelf is the turmeric and tulsi green tea, and the whole selection carries the black teas. Vegetarian. Keep the box closed and away from strong smelling spices, because paper bags take up whatever is next to them.
