Royal Karak Sweetened Chai 220 Gr
Description
Karak chai is Gulf shorthand for chai boiled hard and long until it is thick, dark and properly sweet, the version served in paper cups across Dubai and Doha. Turning that into a powder means putting the milk, the sugar and the tea extract into one tin so that hot water alone reproduces it, which is a genuine convenience and an honest compromise on depth.
Three heaped teaspoons to a mug of hot water, stirred properly, and it comes out close to the real thing. It will not match a pan brewed cup, and it is not meant to. What it does is put decent chai in an office, a hotel room or a caravan where there is a kettle and nothing else. Use water just off the boil, because fully boiling water can make the milk powder catch.
Do I add milk or sugar to this? Neither. Both are already in the powder. Adding milk gives you something closer to a chai latte, which some people prefer but is not what the tin is for.
How many cups in a 220 gram tub? Roughly fifteen at three heaped teaspoons a mug. The 400 gram tubs work out considerably cheaper per cup.
Without the sugar, take the ten sachet unsweetened karak, and the instant chai premixes sit with the leaf teas. Vegetarian. Keep the pack sealed and always use a dry spoon, because the powder clumps the moment it meets damp.
