Aswin Seedai are the marble-sized fried balls of rice flour and urad dal that Tamil homes make for Krishna Jayanthi, here without the famously tricky frying. Each pearl is dense, crunchy and quietly buttery.
Set them out for Gokulashtami as tradition demands, or ignore the calendar and eat them by the handful with coffee. They pour neatly into small katoris for parties and keep their crunch for weeks in an airtight jar.
