JO-LA GEEL YELLOW 50 ML
Description
Jo-La is a name Surinamese kitchens in the Netherlands know well, and its colourings turn up in nasi, in bami, in rice dishes and in baking wherever a strong even yellow is wanted. Food colouring is one of those things people either keep permanently or have never bought, with very little in between.
Add it at the end of cooking and a drop at a time, stirring between drops, because colour is far easier to add than to take away and yellow goes to orange faster than you expect. It contributes no taste at all, which is the whole point: it is there to do the job saffron or turmeric would do without changing the flavour of the dish.
Does it change the taste? No. It is colouring only. If you want the flavour as well as the colour you want turmeric or saffron, not this bottle.
Why does the name say yellow twice? Geel is Dutch for yellow, so the label carries the word in both languages. It is one product, not a shade called Geel Yellow.
If you want aroma as well as colour, take saffron essence for colour and aroma, and the rest of the aisle holds the drinks. Vegetarian. Keep the bottle closed and out of direct sunlight, because both the colour and the aroma fade in the light.
